Another Crimean veteran has passed away in the person of William Smith, who died suddenly at Camberley. Smith had served in the Dragoon Guards for 22 years and 96 days, and was present with his regiment at the charge of the Light Brigade at Balaclava, subsequently receiving the Crimean medal with three clasps for Balaclava, Inkermann, and Sebastopol. He also received the Turkish medal.
