THAMES, This Day. Henry Menary, aged 65, has died at the Hospital from pneumonia. He was an old Crimean veteran, and also served during the Indian Mutiny and the Maori War.

Boxall, William

An old Crimean veteran, William Boxall, who lived at the Thames for the past 18 years, died last week. He was at one time a resident of Napier. In his time he held the local record for throwing the cricket ball, and was well-known in the early days in connection with athletic matters.

Kneller, James

died 7 April 1893 at his residence Brown Street, (Thames?) aged 56 years.

The funeral of Mr Jas. Kneller took place yesterday and was well attended. The remains were interred in Shortland Cemetery, the Rev. Dr. O'Callaghan officiating at the grave.

The deceased, who was a very old resident of the Thames, and was for some years employed as storeman on the Goods' Wharf, was an old Crimean veteran. He enlisted at Anglesea Barracks, Portsea, for the 1st Batallion of the 23rd R.W. Fusiliers in November 1854, joined the depot at Winchester Barracks the same month, and in 1855 joined tbe regiment in the Crimea, where be remained until the war was over.

After returning home he was stationed at Aldershot till 1857, and subsequently received orders for the Chinese war, arriving in Calcutta in August of the same year. Mr Kneller was present at the relief and fall of Lucknow under Sir Colin Campbell, and was afterwards stationed at Lucknow for three years, and subsequently at Agra.
