Lambert

The death is announced [in Auckland] of Major Lambert, aged 77. He was a veteran soldier and had served through the Crimean war, North China war in 1860-61, and in the Waikato and West Coast wars in the sixties, under Generals Cameron and Sir Trevor Chute. Major Lambert was present at the battles of Alma and Inkerman, the attack on the Redan, and the fall of Sebastopol.
