Truth thinks that the refusal of a pension to Mr George V. Hogan, of Auckland, a Crimean and Indian Mutiny veteran, is an "awful warning to young soldiers against trop de sele in her Majesty's service. This gallant old warrior is denied a pension because he served his country too well. His fatal mistake was that he won a commission."
